Graduate prepared for a career in fashion
Of the approximately 90 companies where our students have completed their internships, the majority of these are in New York City. Sacred Heart has a bus system which is timed to meet the trains going into and from New York at the Bridgeport train station. It is common for a student to have an internship in New York and then return for an evening class or students may have a morning class and then take a later train into the city. The College of Business & Technology, Center for Career & Professional Development and the faculty give unending support in securing internships and jobs. Our fashion marketing graduates currently hold positions at many iconic companies.
Learn from fashion industry experts
In SHU's fashion marketing and merchandising classes, students gain unparalleled industry exposure through engaging sessions with renowned experts who are shaping today's fashion landscape. Recent guest speakers have included representatives from Chanel, Richemont, Alo Yoga and more. These invaluable sessions empower students with firsthand knowledge about branding, global market trends and current retail strategies and they foster essential networking opportunities that pave the way for successful careers in the dynamic world of fashion.
The guest speakers were an invaluable experience of the fashion program as they often came from different areas within the retail industry. These experiences allowed me and my fellow students to explore potential career paths, as well as learn about positions we might not have known that much about.
Study abroad for a full semester or a few weeks
Our Fashion Brand Marketing class is taught in both Milan and Paris. In addition, SHU offers a Material Culture and History in Paris summer course.
My study abroad experience in Milan, Italy, was an experience I will forever remember and cherish. Because of our professors and their connections in the industry, we visited places that were amazing. For example, we visited Vogue Italia and learned what they do and saw how a fashion magazine works. Learning about all aspects of working in the fashion industry in one of the world’s fashion capitals was an amazing part of my time at SHU.
