At Sacred Heart University, communication students can earn their bachelor's and master's degrees in just five years on a seamless track. Dual degree students are guaranteed admission to the Master of Arts in communication program provided they continue, as undergraduate students, to meet program-specific criteria to progress into graduate program enrollment. Our communication graduate program prepares students to excel in the communications profession with leading faculty, hands-on experience and access to more than 100 nonprofit organizations, high profile companies and media outlets in the tri-state area.

Students in our communication program benefit from a hands-on learning experience with award-winning faculty at the Frank & Marisa Martire Center for the Liberal Arts and small class sizes of 10-15 students. Throughout the program, students will have a variety of professional development opportunities including guest speakers, networking events, internship opportunities and access to world-class production studios. By graduation, students will have a completed digital portfolio that will demonstrate their advanced skills and training in the latest media technologies to potential employers. Program graduates will know how to create, edit, translate and disseminate information through evolving platforms in an ethical and socially responsible manner.

As undergraduates, students have an academic adviser, as well as other faculty and counseling resources to help them stay on track and progress toward their graduate degree. Criteria to Progress to the Master of Arts in Communication Program

Students must meet program-specific guidelines to progress through the dual degree program and enroll in the MACOMM program.

  • Successful completion of the bachelor’s degree with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
