Amanda Shaw held similar positions in New York colleges
Sacred Heart University has a new director of career education, Amanda Shaw of Fairfield.
Shaw will be responsible for planning and executing services at the Center for Career & Professional Development, as well as programs, resources and student engagement strategies for the College of Health Professions. This will include undergraduates, graduates and select alumni.
She also will support the career center’s additional, campus-wide initiatives, working with the career team to serve other academic programs. She will serve internal and external constituents, contributing to the achievement of recruitment and retention goals and other strategic priorities. She will teach a section of the first-year experience program.
Shaw previously was assistant director in the office of career planning at Russell Sage College in Troy and Albany, NY, from July 2015 to October 2017. Following that, she was promoted to associate director at Russell Sage College.
Shaw earned her bachelor’s degree in environmental studies from William Smith College, in Geneva, NY, where she minored in political science and French and Francophone studies. She obtained her master’s degree in education and college student services administration from The College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY.
“I am very excited to join the vibrant Center for Career & Professional Development at SHU, working specifically with our health professions students and alumni,” said Shaw. “I look forward to being a part of the SHU community and helping prepare our students to lead meaningful and successful lives after college.”
Shaw will report to Keith Hassell, the executive director of career and professional development.
