Alum Serves as Aide to Grand Marshal at NYC’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Kieran McGirl graduated from SHU in 2015; now works at ABC News

Congratulations to Kieran McGirl ’15 on being an aide to the grand marshal in New York City’s 2025 St. Patrick’s Day parade!

McGirl graduated from SHU’s School of Communication, Media & the Arts (SCMA) in May of 2015. During his senior year at SHU, he was selected to be on NESN’s Next Producer television series, a show highlighting up-and-coming collegiate filmmakers. McGirl’s performance on the show earned him a job as an associate producer at NESN.

Following graduation and a three-year stint at NESN, McGirl accepted a position at ABC News in New York City, where he worked for Good Morning America overseeing a variety of aspects of the show from writing to production.

McGirl is now a producer on ABC News’ news magazine program, 20/20. He has won several Emmys and two Edward R. Murrow Awards for his work in news production.
