Faculty and leadership participated in an extensive peer-review process

AACSB logoThe Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) recently reaffirmed and extended its accreditation to Sacred Heart University’s Jack Welch College of Business & Technology.

The exclusive accreditation signifies the quality and merit of WCBT’s curriculum. Accreditation is only awarded to colleges after a rigorous evaluation and requires colleges to meet the highest level of standards for schools and colleges of business. Today, a total of 935 institutions across 59 countries and territories have earned AACSB accreditation in business. SHU first earned its accreditation in 2006.

Over the past several months, Michael Larobina, acting dean of the WCBT, worked alongside faculty and staff during AACSB’s review process.

“The WCBT’s faculty and staff worked tirelessly to ensure the evaluation process went as smoothly as possible,” Larobina said. “I am grateful for their commitment and dedication. I am proud of the college’s accomplishments and, most importantly, how it impacts our amazing students.”

The WCBT educates leaders to make a positive contribution to the community and prepares them for success in the evolving and complex global business environment by nurturing ethical reasoning skills; an entrepreneurial mindset; data and technology literacy; and global perspectives through student-focused teaching, experiential learning and impactful research.

Robin Cautin, SHU provost, said earning extended accreditation from the AACSB is a testament to Larobina’s strong leadership and the faculty’s diligent work. It also proves the college’s excellence and commitment to education, as the AACSB is the leader in quality assurance, business education intelligence and learning and development services, she said.

“The AACSB’s continued endorsement of the WCBT verifies it as a world-class institution where students receive a high-quality education,” Cautin said. “To be included among other outstanding business institutions is a great achievement.”

According to Stephanie M. Bryant, executive vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB, “Every AACSB-accredited school has demonstrated a focus on excellence in all areas, including teaching, research, curricula development and student learning. The intense peer-review process exemplifies their commitment to quality business education.”
