~Kristina Grob, Want a Good Job? Major in Philosophy, America Magazine
The Philosophy faculty are passionate and willing to help their students understand the material. Their passion is infectious, and is really what made me interested in Philosophy. The courses fostered a different type of learning, in which we were asked to question and learn very complex matters. The faculty urge their students to think for themselves, wrestle with the text, and find new ways to look at matters that have been discussed for centuries. I was able to sharpen my skills of argument structure, and recognition of soundness and validity. The skills, knowledge, and friendships I have made through the Philosophy program is a major highlight of my undergraduate career at SHU.
