Being an English major at Sacred Heart allowed me to hone my reading, writing, and speaking skills, all while becoming familiar with the beauty of language. The incredible faculty members of the English department have been not only teachers, but also mentors in my academic and professional pursuits. The world wants people who can communicate effectively in this world, and an English degree is the way to do it.
I admire the professors I had during my time as a student in the English program. Each one encouraged me to explore new topics or write challenging pieces. I graduated from this program a better thinker and writer. Also, as I move forward into my profession as an English teacher, I take with me the teaching skills I have learned through watching my English professors lead engaging classes.
