Gain the advanced technical training you need to become a leading financial professional in a global, dynamic marketplace. This program includes coursework in the latest investment theory, mathematics, statistics and data-intensive analysis.

Dual degree students are guaranteed admission to the Master of Science in Finance & Investment Management program provided they continue, as undergraduate students, to meet program-specific criteria to progress into graduate program enrollment.

Students complete the bachelor's degree in the traditional four-year time frame and complete one year of graduate study. This option is open to students in the following undergraduate majors: business analytics & applied AI, business economics, finance or financial technology & analytics.

Students apply to the dual degree program as incoming first-year students and are admitted directly into the graduate program at the same time as their admission as undergraduate students.

Combined with advisement from their undergraduate academic adviser, participation in activities and programs offered by the Welch College of Business & Technology and the economics & finance department provides strong support toward successful progression into graduate study. Students will gain first-hand exposure to financial concepts and real-time market information through SHU's state-of-the-art finance lab. It includes more than a dozen Bloomberg Financial Terminals and an LCD ticker tape display, which provides financial information from the NASDAQ and New York Stock Exchange.

Criteria to Progress to the Master of Science in Finance & Investment Management (MSFIM)

Dual degree students must meet program-specific guidelines to progress through the dual degree program and enroll in the MSFIM program.

  • Successful completion of the bachelor’s degree with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher to matriculate into the MSFIM program

Eligible majors for the dual degree program are: business analytics & applied AI, business economics, finance and financial technology & analytics.
