Horizons Classroom Intern
Assist lead educators as part of the teaching team and assist with all enrichment and athletic activities for approximately 18-20 students during a six-week summer academic and enrichment program.
This position is available for only students who have been awarded Federal work-study funds (check your award offer in your SHUAwards portal, go to “Accept Award”. Award needs to specify “Federal college work study”. If you have questions regarding this, contact Beth Baker at bakere@sacredheart.edu.

This is an in person position.
Dates
June 20, 2022 and ending around August 11, 2022
Responsibilities
- Work with classroom teacher, and another intern, in classroom of approximately 18-20 students during a six-week summer enrichment program
- Lead small group activities under the supervision of classroom teacher
- Work with individual students
- Prepare and gather materials for lessons and projects
- Monitor students at recess, swimming, in the classroom and specials
- Other duties as assigned

Office Assistant/Grants Researcher
We are looking for someone who is interested in doing grants research and prospecting as well as performing basic office work (data entry, mailings, etc.). Horizons SHU is a tuition-free, non-profit academic enrichment program serving low-income Bridgeport students. The Horizons chapter at Sacred Heart University was established in 2011 within the Isabelle Farrington College of Education & Human Development and has grown to over 165 students in grades K-8.
Location
There is a possibility for remote work.

- Data entry
- Mailings
- Working with Horizon’s year-round program

4-6 hours per week
