The department of philosophy offers courses and programs of study that explore important and enduring questions of meaning—questions that human beings have asked throughout the centuries and across all cultures.
We believe all students benefit from engaging honestly with these critical questions. Therefore, we invite you, as a student pursuing a liberal education, to explore our courses, as well as our major, minor, and study abroad programs, with an open and critical mind.
Studies in philosophy also provide exceptional preparation for law school. Philosophy majors consistently rank among the highest performers on the LSAT, the standardized entrance exam for law schools, making philosophy studies an ideal foundation for aspiring legal professionals. Our faculty is happy to help you explore these opportunities.
