Beginning Reading Programs

All classes starting prior to 11 a.m. will be remote. Classes after 11 a.m. will be in person. Non-essential staff should work remote until 11 a.m. then report to campus as scheduled.
Online Summer Reading Programs
Sacred Heart University's Institute of Reading Development is offering online summer reading programs for students from pre-K to high school. Sessions begin every week throughout the summer and include individualized skills instruction, independent reading in great books and an encouraging teacher.
Program for 4-Year-Olds
In this fun summer program, your child will learn to read. Children learn letter recognition, beginning phonics and easy sight words. Your child will learn to read simple words and short sentences and will be excited about books and reading. This program is designed for 4-year-olds, so your child will experience success at every step.
Program for Entering Kindergartners
In this fun summer program, your child will learn to read. Children learn letter recognition, beginning phonics and easy sight words. every step.
Programs for Entering 1st-5th Graders
In these fun summer programs, students develop strong phonics and decoding skills, build sight vocabulary, learn to read more fluently and rapidly and develop strong comprehension skills. Your child will become a more confident student, enjoy reading more and develop the lifelong habit of reading for pleasure.
Programs for Middle & High School Students
Programs for middle school students and high school students are also available.
