Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectrometer
The department is fortunate to have a high field (400 MHz) NMR spectrometer. The spectrometer was funded by grants from the National Science Foundation and the Pfizer Corporation. Students have access to the spectrometer beginning in their second year as part of the organic chemistry laboratory. The department regularly teaches an introduction to NMR spectroscopy course which involves extensive hands-on use of the spectrometer. It is also a major adjunct to our undergraduate research program.
