Participation Grants & Auditions

Grants and scholarships are available for eligible members of the Theatre Arts Program, and auditions are required to determine placement.

Each audition or interview will take approximately 10 minutes
For those interested in performance, you should come prepared to perform one short monologue or sing at least 16 bars. Please provide sheet music for the accompanist
Students interested in the technical side of the program, including writing, directing, stage management or crew, should come prepared for an interview
All students should bring a resume or description of their past theatre experience in addition to a headshot, if available

What to Include in a Theatre Audition Video Submission

Please speak clearly into your video recording device and include:

Your full name, where you are from, and your high school
The undergraduate degree program for which you are applying or have been accepted to at SHU
The name of the piece you will be singing and the show the piece is from
You may sing a capella, with piano accompaniment, or a backing track
Submission should be no more than 24 bars

Please speak clearly into your video recording device and include:

Your full name, where you are from, and your high school
The undergraduate degree program for which you are applying or have been accepted to at SHU
The name of your monologue and name of the show it is from
Submission should be no longer than three (3) minutes

This video audition fulfills your audition requirements for the Theatre Performing Arts Grant

When your video audition is complete, upload it to YouTube, marking it as Unlisted and send to theatrearts@sacredheart.edu.
