The new John & Sabina Petillo Center for the Performing Arts opened its doors in 2024 in Sacred Heart’s Academic Center.

The Petillo Center for the Performing Arts provides state-of-the- art spaces for our band & orchestra, choral, dance and theatre cohorts; practice rooms equipped with pianos for ensembles and individuals; a storage unit for band instruments and guard equipment; and shops to aid in the creation of costumes, sets and props.

The Petillo Center for the Performing Arts includes a black box theatre rehearsal and performance space, a band rehearsal room for ensembles of any size, a large choir rehearsal space that can seat over 100 students and three spacious dance studios.

These spaces are equipped with the latest technology including Harlequin sprung subflooring and Marley floor covers for the dance studios, as well as the appropriate tools and machinery to make the sets, props and costumes that constitute a musical or plays, mise en scè€ne.

This new center provides spaces that empower student artists to create as they learn about the arts, develop skills and gain experiences that they can carry past graduation and into their professional careers.

I think this is going to be a game changer for the performing arts program and it’s going to take each group to the next level. Students now have all these beautiful, state-of-the-art spaces to rehearse and be creative. The new center will foster a lot of collaboration.
