About Alpha Kappa Alpha

Alpha Kappa Alpha was founded on the campus of Howard University in Washington, D.C. in 1908 by nine women. They wanted to create a support network for women to come together and use their talents and strengths for the benefit of others. The Upsilon Sigma chapter was established at Sacred Heart University in Fal 2024. This international service organization is the oldest Greek-letter organization established by African American college-educated women.
