The home of campus recreation – Club Sports, Intramurals & Fitness

The three-story Valentine Health & Recreation Center is the home for student recreation on campus and houses Club Sports & Recreation. The main floor features a multi-purpose sport court, climbing wall, and open space with free weights, machines & functional training. The top floor features dedicated cardio space, 2 workout studios, a Robeks juice bar and a suspended track that overlooks the court and climbing wall. The lower level has an 18-bike spin room, an HD golf simulator, bowling alley, a Club Sports athletic training room, locker rooms and staff offices.

Proper gym attire is required in SHU facilities. Please adhere to SHU's gym attire standards.

Group Fitness

Classes are free and open to all SHU full-time undergraduate students and those students who have purchased a Rec Center membership (memberships are necessary for graduate, ESL and part-time students). Class sizes are limited, so be sure to sign up online to secure your spot.

Golf Simulator

The HD Golf Simulator is captivating & realistic. You will feel like you are at some of the best golf courses in the world! Practice your chipping & putting before choosing from over 30 of the best golf courses in the world. Test yourself at 10 different driving ranges before and then step up to a Closest to the Pin contest.

Bowling Alley

The 5,000-square-foot bowling center features LED widescreen monitors and 6 lanes for team practices, open recreation, special events and leagues!

  • Monday - Friday: 5 p.m. - 11 p.m.
  • Saturday & Sunday: 1 p.m. - 11 p.m.
  • No new games will start within 40 minutes of closing

Climbing Wall

The 45-foot climbing structure reaches up through the rooftop so you can enjoy a 360 degree panoramic view of SHU. You can boulder or choose from 4 different climbing routes, each designed for the beginner, intermediate & advanced climbers. We have harnesses and shoes to borrow at no charge. All items are cleaned thoroughly and placed in quarantine after use.

  • Tuesday: 1 p.m. - 7 p.m.
  • Wednesday: 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
  • Thursday: 1 p.m. - 6 p.m.
  • Friday: 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.

This is a SHU student facility. There are no friends & family day passes, no faculty/staff passes, or local community memberships.
