William J. Hass, Ph.D. previously served as executive in residence for Sacred Heart’s master's in public administration, spent 32 years at LifeBridge Community Services, 23 as executive vice president and nine as president and CEO before retiring in June 2018.

Throughout his 44-year career in education and human services, Hass has held various clinical and administrative positions. Trained as a clinical psychologist, he has served as clinical director for a private school, school psychology consultant for a residential facility and private practice clinician.

He served six years on the board of the Bridgeport Regional Business Council and on its government relations and transportation committee, working with state representatives and community leaders. He also served for 20 years on the Southwest Regional Mental Health Board including time as president where he supported advocacy and education efforts to raise awareness about mental illness.

With a focus on broader issues facing nonprofits in Greater Bridgeport and across Connecticut, Hass has participated in several key working groups. For four years, he was a member of the Governor’s Cabinet on Nonprofit Health and Human Services, cochairing the business practice work group to help improve collaboration between nonprofits and state agencies. He is a member and past president of the Rotary Club of Bridgeport and a retired member and past president of the Connecticut Council of Family Service Agencies. Nationally, he served as a peer reviewer, team leader and commission member for the Council on Accreditation, a national accrediting body for human service organizations.
