Valerie L. Christian, MBA
Office Location
Valerie Christian joined Sacred Heart University in 2002. She joined the Jack Welch College of Business & Technology at Sacred Heart University after a 20+ year career in corporate America. Her most recent corporate position was Vice President of Finance and Planning at the Columbia House Company, which was—during her tenure there—a joint venture of Sony Music and Time Warner. Her responsibilities at Columbia House were broad-based, including: direct marketing, strategic planning, financial analysis, sales analysis, new business development, acquisitions/divestitures, market research/market segmentation, database marketing, and budget development. In 1997, she was inducted into the Academy of Women Achievers of the YWCA of the City of New York.
Her decision to make a career transition from the corporate to the educational world was, in large part, an outgrowth of the positive teaching experience she enjoyed as an adjunct faculty member at New York University and the value she places on having an MBA degree.
She is an active Tuck alumna, serving as a mentor, a guest speaker, and Class Agent. As a working mother, she is well aware of the challenges and rewards of trying to balance family and career.
