While I'm originally from North Carolina, I grew up and did all my college education in Ohio, obtaining a BS in Mathematics from Ashland University, an MS in Operations Research at Miami University, an MS in Industrial Engineering and a Ph.D. in Applied Statistics/Business Analytics at the University of Cincinnati (UC).

Before and during the time I was at UC, I worked as a systems analyst at Measurex Corporation (a Honeywell Company) so I am familiar with and sensitive to the challenges of the work-life-school balance. After UC, I joined the staff of General Electric's research and development unit in upstate New York and worked on a wide variety of strategically important and technically significant business problems for the company for five years, after which I joined the financial services arm, GE Capital, for another 17 years. During that time, I worked in risk analytics and was fortunate to receive the first GE Edison Award for commercial (business) financing activity. Pursuing business analytics as a profession has also enabled me to publish 12 journal articles and obtain 17 patents - indeed this is a fertile area!

In 2016, I started my own company, Evergreen Business Analytics, LLC, and am now doing both pro-bono and contract work in the field. Among my motivations for the company, and indeed my personal philosophy, is making analytics accessible to a broader community, i.e., the democratization of analytics, to amplify the benefit for the greater good. I've worked at Post University teaching analytics in their MBA program, Wake Forest University in their online graduate business analytics and MBA programs, and importantly at SHU in the graduate analytics program at the Welch College of Business & Technology. Each has been an enabler of my philosophy.

When I'm not engaged in business analytics pursuits, I'm either trekking in the mountains (am an Adirondack 46er, Catskill 35er and member of The Explorer's Club), making music or spending time with my wife and two kids (three counting our pet pooch) at our home in Connecticut or our cabin in upstate New York.
