Office Location
Thomas Hurley, Ph.D., is an assistant teaching professor of Catholic Studies at Sacred Heart University, and he has been teaching at Sacred Heart since 2016. He earned his Ph.D. in theology from the Pontifical John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family in Washington, DC, writing his dissertation on the relation between political freedom and the destiny of the human person in God in the thought of Thomas Aquinas. He also earned his MTS from the Pontifical John Paul II Institute, and his BA in theology from Christendom College. His academic interests focus on Catholic social thought, particularly in relation to the work of Thomas Aquinas and John Paul II.

Research Interests
My research interests focus on Catholic social thought and ethics, particularly the theological anthropology and social and political theology of John Paul II and Thomas Aquinas, and how theology interacts with our contemporary understandings of political communities and our own freedom and identities within those communities.
