Taciane D Batista

Taciane D’Angelo Batista has been at Sacred Heart University since 2017. Originally from São Paulo, Brazil, Taciane holds dual master’s degrees from Sacred Heart University in Digital Journalism & Multimedia and Sports Communication & Media Sports Broadcast.
Before beginning her teaching journey at Sacred Heart, Batista worked as a graduate assistant, producer, reporter and sports commentator.
Additionally, Taciane has volunteered for the Easton Courier newspaper in Easton, CT, working with other SHU faculty members to highlight the significance of local journalism. She is a passionate advocate for the role of journalism, the dissemination of accurate information and the importance of media literacy for all students. Taciane believes these elements are essential for provoking critical thinking, fostering social change and cultivating an informed and engaged society.

Research Interests
In June 2024, she was a presenter at the 5th International Media Literacy Research Symposium in Ponta Delgada, Portugal, where she presented on "Navigating the Future of Media Literacy: Exploring the Impact of Generative AI." Taciane also recently contributed a chapter to the textbook "Media Literacy, Equity, and Justice," edited by Belinha De Abreu, Ph.D., and published by Routledge.
