Dr. Rubb began his teaching career in 1994 and has been at Sacred Heart University since 2003. He is a former president of the University Academic Assembly and past member or current member of the faculty senate, university academic affairs committee, as well as several departmental and college wide committees.

Dr. Rubb is a prolific scholar with over a dozen journal publications, mostly in top ranked journals including Demography, Applied Economics, the Economics of Education Review,  and Education Economics. His research interests include migration, Social Security and retirement issues, and labor market – education issues. Among economic scholars around the world, Dr. Rubb is best known for his work on the importance of matching educational qualifications to job market requirements and performance.

Prior to coming to Sacred Heart, Dr. Rubb taught economics, finance, and statistics at a variety of business schools including Bentley University and Bryant University. Currently, Dr. Rubb is engaged in writing a principles of economics textbook titled “Economics: A Business Perspective” with co-author Scott Sumner. The book is scheduled for publication in 2018 by Worth Publishers/Macmillan Learning.

  • His teaching focus includes courses in Managerial Economics and introductory courses in economics at both the graduate and undergraduate level.
