Dr. Shawn McNamara brings more than two decades of athletic training experience, including professional leadership as a head athletic trainer, to his work in athletic training education. He also serves as an adjunct instructor in the Exercise Science program.

McNamara has extensive clinical experience in collegiate athletics, where he provided comprehensive care for student-athletes and oversaw athletic healthcare operations. He continues active clinical practice across elite youth and professional sports organizations, maintaining engagement with current clinical standards and care delivery. He is also the inventor of the Complete Ankle Rehabilitation Device (C.A.R.D.), a rehabilitation tool designed to restore ankle joint mobility, strength, and proprioception following injury or surgery.

In addition to his teaching and clinical practice, McNamara is actively involved in professional service through the New York State Athletic Trainers' Association (NYSATA).
