Dr. Nikki Wingate is an accomplished educator and researcher in Marketing, with a doctorate from Stern School of Business at New York University and a wealth of teaching experience at various universities. Published in leading academic journals in marketing, her research investigates the importance of emotional aspects of consumer behavior. Recognized by Faculty Impact Award at the University of Bridgeport and Teaching Excellence Award at New York University, Dr. Wingate is a passionate teacher with a genuine heart for her students, advising and mentoring them even after graduation. Prior to her academic career, Dr. Wingate worked for McKinsey & Co. and she continues to consult as a branding and marketing expert for both for-profit corporations and nonprofit organizations, including United States Food & Drug Administration.

Research & Grants

Dr. Wingate researches consumer behavior in marketing and branding, using experimental methodology and multivariate statistical analyses. Her research themes include consumer perspectives influenced by negative affect, branding and advertising issues in the domains of pharmaceutical and healthcare, luxury, higher education, tourism, sustainable businesses, and nonprofits, as well as effective pedagogy in business education. Her research has been published in top marketing journals such as Marketing Letters, Psychology & Marketing, Journal of Marketing Theory and Practice, and Journal of Brand Management, among others. She has received research awards and grants from New York University, Rutgers University, Fairfield University, and the University of Bridgeport. Based on her research expertise in pharmaceutical advertising, Dr. Wingate was invited to an advisory role for the US Food & Drug Administration. In addition to serving on the editorial board of International Journal of Services, Economics, and Management, Dr. Wingate reviews for prominent marketing journals such as Journal of Product and Brand Management, Journal of Research in Interactive Marketing, International Journal of Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Marketing, and Journal of Consumer Psychology. Dr. Wingate's most recent research projects involve collaboration with New York University Stern Center for Sustainable Business and a research grant proposal to be submitted to National Institutes of Health.
