Martha Cagliostro, Ph.D., joined Sacred Heart University in fall 2023. Prior to joining the psychology department, she earned a BA in English literature from Wake Forest University and a Ph.D. in psychology from Northeastern University. She then worked as a post-doctoral research fellow in Developmental Neuroscience at Columbia University where she studied the developmental underpinnings of anxiety and depression.

As a teacher, Cagliostro strives to build a warm, welcoming classroom where students are encouraged to follow their curiosity and feel safe asking questions. She enjoys incorporating her liberal arts and neuroscientific research background into her teaching practice and loves nothing more than seeing the spark of excitement when a student discovers a new way of looking at the world.

Cagliostro enjoys spending time with her spouse and kids, chasing around her incredibly mischievous terrier, doing hot yoga and ballet and talking about the brain.
