Clinically, I am a Ph.D. prepared nurse, certified as a practitioner and credentialed as a professional gerontologist. My clinical work focuses on preventive health and wellness. I also specialize in behavioral sleep medicine, a clinical focus during my second postdoctoral fellowship. I was honored to be named a John A. Hartford Foundation & The Atlantic Philanthropies Claire M. Fagin Fellow in 2008, and a Robert Wood Johnson Nurse Faculty Scholar in 2012.

My background as a nurse is varied, having held positions ranging from staff nurse to administration to APRN within a private practice. I’ve also worked in varied settings: from hospital medical unit to ICU/trauma, to clinic, to sub-acute rehab, long-term care as well as home care. This wide range of experiences over my clinical career has provided me the opportunity to observe a variety of disease states and disorders at varying stages and levels of expression and management.

Academically, I have had the opportunity to work as a post-doctoral research scientist, a nurse practitioner program director, as well as faculty member. I have been historically involved with the education of nursing students and other health professionals at multiple levels, in developing, coordinating and teaching both clinical and didactic courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The majority of my teaching experience is in doctoral level education. I have taught in face to face, hybrid and online classrooms, but consider online education to be one of my academic specialty areas.
