Kathleen McGroddy-Goetz, Ph.D.

Dr. Kathy McGroddy-Goetz is well known for her ability to create business value via collaboration and joint innovation. Her strong technical foundation coupled with exceptional business acumen and strong communication skills has enabled her to build and grow multiple successful businesses. Kathy has led the creation of transformative healthcare and life sciences solutions that combined strategic partnerships, data, cloud, and advanced analytics technologies. She has extensive executive experience leading global teams across business development, strategy, research & development, and product management.
She spent 26 years in technical and executive roles at IBM, including playing a key role in launching the Watson Health business in 2015. Here she led a team that built a portfolio of digital health solutions built in collaboration with key industry leaders. These included personalized patient-facing AI-enabled solutions focused on diabetes and orthopedics as well as services offerings for payers to enable risk-based business models.
She then spent 3 years at Medidata Solutions helping them launch their Medidata AI business intended to deliver actionable insights at the frontlines of clinical trial decision making through the use of clinical and real world data, advanced AI technologies, and deep industry expertise.
Kathy joined the board of Tandem Diabetes in June 2020. She serves as Chair of the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee and as a member of the Cybersecurity and Data Privacy Oversight Committee. She has been an adjunct faculty member at Sacred Heart University working with masters students in the Health Informatics Program since 2022. She also serves as the Chair of the Board of Directors of Rides for Ridgefield, a nonprofit organization that provides free transportation to Ridgefield CT seniors and residents with mobility disabilities.
