Joanne Kabak is a journalist and writer who has been published in many national and local newspapers and magazines, including Newsday, Consumer Reports, and The Connecticut Post, among others. She has also collaborated on four books in the areas of health and finance, including as co-author of “The Woman’s Book of Money and Spiritual Vision,” which has been published in two editions in the U.S. and translated into Russian. As a business writer, she has done reports and analyses for companies ranging from technology to finance to advertising. Prior to becoming a journalist, Joanne practiced as a CPA in New York State in the fields of auditing and taxation. She holds an MBA from Columbia University School of Business. She is a member of the American Society of Journalists and Authors.

Joanne has been at Sacred Heart University since 2005 and has been the faculty advisor for the student-run campus newspaper The Spectrum since 2008. In her other academic work, she has been a part-time faculty member at Quinnipiac University and has served on the Media Arts Advisory Board at Norwalk Community College. In addition to teaching news writing and reporting on the undergraduate level at Sacred Heart, she has taught many special topics courses on media including in the fields of humor, Catholicism, and business. Her focus in the graduate level is on media and ethics.
