Janice Owen has had the opportunity to practice social work in many different capacities including organ donation, hospital social work, home health, hospice and private practice. She has taught in various capacities from preschool to college level. Her experience counseling includes working with undergraduate and graduate students in social work or counseling field placements at Our Lady of the Lake University, St. Mary’s University and the University of Texas at San Antonio. Owen has also taught at Grambling State University, The Ohio State University and was a Clinical Assistant Professor at Our Lady of the Lake University before coming to Sacred Heart. After retiring from Sacred Heart in 2024 as full-time faculty, she continued as an adjunct and is now serving as a Visiting Clinical Assistant Professor. A Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and certified LCSW Supervisor in Texas, Owen had a small private practice providing in-home therapy for the elderly population.
