Elliott Bertrand earned his Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Rhode Island. He is an enthusiastic educator and particularly enjoys introducing students to novel topics and perspectives. His recent research interests primarily focus on Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and the Scholarship of Teaching & Learning (SoTL) applied to mathematics education. He and colleagues from the Farrington College of Education & Human Development were awarded a National Science Foundation grant that investigated ways to improve undergraduate mathematics instruction through the integration of UDL strategies. He is an avid musician and occasionally performs as a violinist at venues in New England.
