David Kell, MS, MPH, PTA, CSCS, USAT-1, currently serves as the Sport Scientist of the Pioneer Performance Center. At the Pioneer Performance Center, David conducts physiological testing including VO2max, Lactate Threshold and Body Composition as well as providing a variety of training services including AlterG Treadmill sessions, group exercise classes, personal training and training plan creation. David also teaches in the Exercise Science department.

David obtained his Master’s in Public Health from the University of New England in 2010 and his Master’s in Exercise Science and Nutrition at Sacred Heart University in 2013 receiving the Gold Medal of Excellence for being top in his class. Desiring to work more closely in injury prevention and rehabilitation, David went on to obtain an Associate of Science Physical Therapy Assistant degree at Norwalk Community College in 2018. David also has certifications as a Strength and Conditioning Coach and USA Triathlon Coach.

David has 7+ years of experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant and has completed an Advanced Proficiency Pathway in Orthopedics. He has worked in a variety of outpatient orthopedic settings allowing him to treat a variety of orthopedic conditions. David has been an Endurance Coach for over a decade working with runners, cyclists, duathletes, and triathletes. David also has a variety of experience as a Strength and Conditioning Coach working with clients and athletes individually, in groups, and as teams including several teams at Quinnipiac University. 

As an endurance athlete himself, David has been nationally ranked in his age group in the sport of duathlon competing at the National and World Championships.

Research Interests

Utilizing research, testing and proper strength and endurance exercise prescription to optimize performance and reduce injury risk for both athletes and non-athletes.
