As the Society of Cinema Studies Information Technology Officer, Dr. Miller led the team that developed and launched the new SCMS website, and in a previous life he worked for six years as an Assistant Director in film and television production on features such as Of Mice and Men and television series like Beverly Hills 90210. He is the author of several articles focusing on American sports including The American Dream Goes to College: The Cinematic Student Athletes of College Football and Winning It All: The Cinematic Construction of the Athletic American Dream.

Teaching Responsibilities

At Sacred Heart University, Dr. Miller is responsible for courses that cover both the theory and practice of media production. Recent courses taught include DVD and Multimedia Production, History of the Motion Picture, Senior Project, Introduction to Media Studies, Sport Culture & Media and Digital Filmmaking I.

Research

Dr. Miller has also published on early cinema and American sporting culture, and he is currently working on a book that engages with the cultural history of the American sports film.
