Mr. Kolar taught in the Pittsburgh, PA area as well as The University of Oklahoma before coming to Sacred Heart. He has taught with the Magic of Orlando Division I Drum & Bugle corps and the Connecticut Hurricanes Drum & Bugle corps as a marching technician. He marched for two years with the Division I Drum & Bugle Corps, Capital Regiment, and seven years in two WGI percussion ensembles, The Royal Crusaders and Project Percussion. He has performed with the Allegheny Brass Band, Butler County Symphony Orchestra, & the Fort Smith Symphony. He continues to write and arrange music for concert and marching percussion ensembles and has a personal educator endorsement with Vic Firth/Zildjian, Inc. He has presented at the Pennsylvania Music Educators Conference, the Pennsylvania Day of Percussion, the Oklahoma Day of Percussion, the Connecticut Music Educators Conference, the Connecticut Day of Percussion, and is an active member of PAS (Percussive Arts Society), CMEA (Connecticut Music Educators Association), USARD (United States Association of Rudimental Drummers), and NAfME (The National Association for Music Education). Mr. Kolar has had several articles published in Percussive Notes, and is the Immediate Past President of the Connecticut Chapter of the Percussive Arts Society. Mr. Kolar has an acute attention to detail and loves to help push young musicians to be their very best!
