Pioneer Athletics
Four thousand Pioneer hockey fans cheering for their team in Martire Family Arena. The women’s basketball team scoring its first-ever NCAA Tournament victory. The first female athletic director taking the helm of the University’s Division I sports program. This is an exciting time in Pioneer Athletics, and expectations are on the rise.
In true Pioneer Spirit, we debuted women’s wrestling in 2021—just the second Division I program in the country, bringing us to 33 varsity sports. Our next goal is to have all 33 teams competing at the highest level. Not just 33 good teams, but 33 great teams. We can do it with the help of a supportive Sacred Heart community.
Now We Lead represents a pivotal moment for Pioneer Athletics. You have the opportunity to shape the future for generations of SHU student athletes. As Sacred Heart grows in size, quality and reputation, you can generate the same movement for SHU Athletics.

Toward A Winning Future
Now We Lead asks you to invest in our student athletes, coaches, staff and facilities to build the leading Division I program in the Northeast. You can ensure that each of our 33 teams has the resources it needs to excel at the highest level by investing in these key areas:
Endowing Head Coaching Positions
By supporting endowed head coaching positions, you give SHU the power to recruit and retain the best coaches from a national talent pool. You help ensure that all 33 Division I teams are led by the most qualified individuals who understand the importance of SHU’s Catholic mission, rigorous academic standards and desire to compete for championships. A coaching endowment gift establishes a reliable, permanent stream of revenue to help that coach build a championship program.
Improving & Expanding Facilities
As SHU grows at an astounding pace, so does the need for first-class athletic facilities. Your investment can help us re-envision the William Pitt Athletic & Convocation Center as a dedicated home for our Division I teams, including reorienting the basketball court and offering VIP experiences. Renovations to Campus Field will include improving the press box, steaming technology, new bleachers for an enhanced fan experience, in addition to a new playing surface for our student athletes.
