Join Our Global Service Learning Trip to Kenya

Are you passionate about helping others, protecting the environment and inspiring the next generation? Our global service-learning trip to Kenya offers a unique blend of community service and cultural immersion.

  • Wildlife Safaris: Witness the "Big Five" in their natural habitat at world-renowned parks like Kenya National Park and Amboseli.
  • Cultural Immersion: Engage with the Maasai and other local communities for an authentic cultural experience.

This global service-learning trip to Kenya offers SHU students a transformative educational experience that goes beyond traditional classroom learning, empowering them to become informed, engaged and compassionate global citizens. Kenya's diverse cultures, languages, and traditions provide a rich backdrop for cultural immersion and learning. Service-learning participants will have the opportunity to engage with local communities, learn about their customs and gain a deeper understanding of Kenyan society. Moreover, Kenyan communities often play a central role in identifying their needs and implementing solutions. SHU students will collaborate with local organizations, schools, healthcare facilities and community groups in addressing challenges. Given Kenya's array of development obstacles, including poverty, inadequate healthcare, education disparities and environmental degradation, engaging in service-learning will allow students to understand these challenges firsthand and empower them to contribute to efforts aimed at addressing them. As such, participants have an opportunity to develop leadership skills, cross-cultural communication abilities and a sense of global citizenship.

Accessible Family Planning

Every woman deserves the right to make informed choices about her reproductive health. In partnership with various health facilities, we ensure that women of reproductive age have easy access to family planning resources and information. Our community sensitization programs are designed to dispel myths and misconceptions, making family planning a safe and accepted practice.

Dignity for Adolescent Girls

Menstruation should never be a barrier to a girl's education or development. AWOCHE works tirelessly to secure the dignity of adolescent girls by providing free sanitary towels and panties. By addressing this basic need, we help girls stay in school and continue their journey toward a brighter future.

The program fee includes airfare and on-ground transportation, accommodation, guest lectures, guided tours and select meals.
