Transfer Housing Information

We are delighted that you’re going to be one of our members living in residence at SHU. It is a dynamic and vibrant community that we know will quickly be your home away from home.

The housing application, as well as housing assignments, will be found in the Housing Portal when they are completed. You will receive an email from our office to your SHU email account when the housing application is available for you to complete. Housing assignments will also be sent to your SHU email when they are finalized.

Transfer student housing is first based on age and then academic credits. We will then use your living traits from your housing application to find a living situation that best fits with what we have available. You can choose up to three residence halls according to your preferences in the housing application. Please note that while we do everything we can to place you in a space that aligns with your preferences, a specific type of housing is not guaranteed. Our office prioritizes matching you with compatible roommates over residence hall preference.

If you are unfamiliar with our residence hall options, refer to the information listed on our website. The class year population of students can change from year to year depending on the residence hall.

As a reminder, as a transfer student, you are not required to live in SHU housing. If you are interested in finding non-SHU housing, we have resources on our website that may assist you.

ADA Housing Accommodations

If you are a student that requires ADA (Americans with Disability Act) consideration for housing accommodations (i.e., medical conditions, mobility issues, etc.) you are required to go through our housing accommodations process. The steps for this process are outlined on our Accommodations Process website.

Parking

Transfer students must first register their vehicle. Parking lot designations are based on a parking lottery that occurs each summer. Residential student parking is limited, however, we have offsite overflow lots available. For information related to parking at SHU, and to register your vehicle, visit the parking website.
