SHU Students
Summer Housing Information
For current residential students who need Sacred Heart University housing between the closing of the residence halls on May 6 and the opening of summer housing on May 16, you will need to register for intersession housing (available late April to early May). If you are a residential student for fall 2025 and need to stay for housing after August 1, you will need to register for early arrival housing (late July/August). We cannot accommodate non-residential students prior to the start of summer housing or after the closing of summer housing.
The cost for summer housing at Sacred Heart University is $150/week. All students and visiting students are billed through their University student account. Summer housing will be located at Christian Witness Commons. Students will be assigned to double occupancy rooms with a roommate.
To fill out the summer housing application, go to your Housing Portal. New students cannot register for housing until you have a SHU email address and password.
Residents will be billed for any bedroom, common area, and apartment damage, missing keys/cards, or improper checkouts. The residential life summer office hours are:
- Monday-Thursday: 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
- Friday: 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
No belongings can be stored or kept in any place other than the room/suite to which the student is officially assigned to and/or living. It is recommended students make their own arrangements with independent storage companies if necessary.
Students are not permitted to bring and/or store in their summer housing assignment the following items*:
- Mini-refrigerators or freezers
- Upholstered furniture longer than 24” in length
- Barbecue/charcoal grills, gas grills, propane tanks, or other related cooking appliances
- Personal window-unit air conditioners
*This is a non-inclusive list. Refer to the student handbook for specific policies and a complete list of items not permitted in summer housing.
Summer housing is a privilege, not a right. Students must abide by the rules and policies of Sacred Heart University. Any violation of University polices may result in a judicial hearing and sanctions which may include immediate removal from summer housing.
Current SHU students needing housing after the official summer housing dates will pay the standard $50/day intersession fee and will be required to relocate into appropriate intercession/early arrival housing at the discretion of Residential Life.
