WSHU Broadcast Center & Public Safety
A three-story, 21,000 square foot building on Park Avenue is home to SHU's Public Safety Department and WSHU Public Radio, an onsite National Public Radio station serving Fairfield County and southeastern Connecticut. The facility was built in the spring of 2018. The venue provides the opportunity for enhanced programming, training and special events for the radio station. It is also a state-of-the art communication and dispatch center for SHU’s Public Safety Department.
WSHU
With 13 frequencies, a blended format of NPR news and classical music, and an Edward R. Murrow Award-winning news team, WSHU Public Radio serves as a terrific learning resource. The radio station provides critically needed resources for meeting today’s broadcasting needs.

Public Safety Department
Since SHU officials play an integral role in helping to meet the fire, public safety and emergency-preparedness needs of Connecticut Region One and WSHU Public Radio is a member of the National Emergency Broadcast System, it makes sense for the radio station to share space with the Public Safety Department. The facility enhances the Public Safety Department’s efforts to provide top-quality, proactive public safety programs and support. The joint efforts of WSHU Public Radio and the Public Safety Department in one professional service building provides upgraded communication, technology and surveillance capabilities.
