Sacred Heart University prioritizes the safety and security of its students by providing a range of resources and services, including active efforts to prevent crime before it can occur.  

public safety officer directing traffic at a crosswalkThe department of public safety’s crime prevention program is focused on eliminating or minimizing criminal opportunities whenever possible, by providing students and employees with tools and information to become better aware of potential threats and to foster a safe and secure campus. 

These efforts include, among other initiatives, compiling and reporting annual campus crime and fire safety statistics, offering the SHU Safe mobile app for 24-hour access to emergency services, placing emergency call boxes on campus, providing ongoing safety tips and offering programs to help the SHU community minimize dangerous situations, theft and other risks.
