The Academic Computing Department was created in an effort to create a greater use of technology by our faculty members. Our primary focus is to expose Sacred Heart University faculty members to the technologies that are currently available and to promote their use of this technology in the classroom.

The Academic Computing Department is the coordinating office for Audio Visual & Media Services, MySHU portal, Instructional Technology and the Computer Labs.

Our staff is dedicated to providing stable and current technology along with exemplary support services for the Sacred Heart community.

We provide workshops and individual training sessions to assist faculty in leveraging technology for teaching and learning. In particular, we provide pedagogical technology assistance in the utilization of alternative course delivery methods such as course management tools, web-based products, multimedia and classroom presentation tools for instructional enhancement.

Sacred Heart University is part of a select group of academic institutions that embrace a mobile computing philosophy. We issue a laptop to all full-time faculty members, and all full-time undergraduate students are required to have a laptop in support of our mission of “anytime, anywhere” learning.

Additionally, we provide campus-wide technical support of all things technology-related. Our technical service center is comprised of three areas: The Call Center, The Notebook Service Center and Pioneer Computing.
