Student Accident & Sickness Insurance Plan Information

All full-time undergraduate students must have health insurance and will be automatically enrolled in Sacred Heart University's Student Health Insurance Plan through Gallagher Student Health & Special Risk. Students with proof of comparable health insurance coverage within the State of Connecticut may waive out of the University's insurance plan and the related fee as long as proof of coverage is provided.

Please be aware, any time you are seen at Student Health Services or referred by us to an outside medical facility or laboratory, your insurance will be billed. It is important that you check with your insurance carrier about your coverage. This is especially important for students who have out-of-state insurance.

Health Insurance Requirements & Billing

At student health services, visits are billed through your insurance directly. We will need to collect your insurance information in order to process your claims. Students are responsible for keeping their health insurance information current. This can be done on MyChart. Students should also make sure they have a printed copy of their insurance card when they go to Student Health Services for care.

Medical services received in student health services will be billed to the student’s insurance company by Northeast Medical Group and covered in accordance with the terms and conditions of the student’s insurance plan, including applicable copays, deductibles and coinsurance.  

If a student’s health plan has a copay, the copay will be collected at the time of the visit. For specific questions about your insurance plan and coverage, or to determine if Northeast Medical Group’s services will be considered in network, please contact your health plan directly.  Ask your carrier whether Northeast Medical Group is in its network.
