The CTL on West Campus is home to two tech studios available for SHU faculty and staff to record teaching and professional materials after a short training session.
Lightboard Studio
The Lightboard is a tool that can be used to create written or visual demonstrations in video format. It functions like a see-through whiteboard. You write on one side, while a camera records you from the other, allowing you to write and draw while maintaining eye contact to deliver your message in a natural and engaging way. The Lightboard is a large piece of glass enclosed in a frame that has LED lights embedded into it. The board functions best in a dark room with the overhead lights turned off. The LEDs on the board illuminate the writing and spotlight the instructor, which makes the content stand out.
Podcast Studio

The CTL podcast studio is a soundproof room with two high quality microphones that provide a quiet place to record high quality audio, typically to make podcasts, audio narration, or screen-recorded video lectures. The Mac computer in the room allows for users to record and edit audio using GarageBand, as well as record video using Echo360 or Zoom. Users may also bring their own laptop to connect to our microphones and equipment.

Who Can Use the CTL Tech Studios?
The Lightboard and Podcast Studios are available by reservation for all SHU instructors and staff who complete a brief training. Additionally, students may reserve time with the Podcast Studio after a brief training.

Book a Tech Studio
After completing a short 15 to 30-minute training for the Lightboard Room or Podcast Room, users can reserve each room for a variable amount of time. You can reserve training time, reserve a Tech Studio, or view additional training materials by visiting our Reserve CTL Tech internal website.
