Heart Challenges Hate

Heart Challenges Hate aims to respond with knowledge, informed and reasoned discourse, faith and reason to the prevalence of hatred, bigotry and violence we are experiencing in America today. It is our assumption and responsibility as a Catholic university to speak against the injustice and violence.

The Human Journey Colloquia Series

The Human Journey Colloquia Series offers lectures on topics that relate to fundamental questions about God, humanity, nature and society and that illustrate the relationship of the Catholic intellectual tradition to the world today. The Human Journey Colloquia Series is an integral part of the University’s core The Human Journey Seminars: Great Books in the Catholic Intellectual Tradition.

Michael Sean Winters

Fellow, Center for Catholic Studies
Michael Sean Winters, the inaugural fellow of the Center for Catholic Studies, will be one of the five respected leaders looking back at the role of religion in the 2020 US presidential election at “Faith and the Faithful in the 2024 Election,” a February discussion at Georgetown University. Winters is a columnist for National Catholic Reporter and a reporter at The Tablet.

Recent Event

Faculty Attend Catholic Conference in Poland

SHU Catholic studies faculty attended the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Subcommittee on Aid to the Church in Central and Eastern Europe in Warsaw, Poland. The event focused on Catholic social teaching. SHU Fellow Michael Sean Winters helped organize the event and Dan Rober, SHU associate professors, presented a paper there.
