Sacred Heart University’s high-quality education has earned recognition from Kiplinger publishing company, which included SHU on its “Best College Value” list for 2019.
Sacred Heart ranks among 400 colleges and universities, many considered the most elite in the nation. For a college or university to appear on Kiplinger’s “Best College Value” list, it must meet the publisher’s definition of value: “a high-quality education at an affordable price.”
According to the company, it analyzed institutions’ academic measures such as student-to-faculty ratio, test scores and retention rates to develop the ranking. It also looked at institutions with “affordable sticker prices, generous financial aid and low student debt at graduation.”
“Sacred Heart is proud of the education it provides all its students and is pleased to be recognized on Kiplinger’s value listing alongside other prestigious institutions,” said James Barquinero, senior vice president for enrollment, student affairs and athletics.
Kiplinger’s rankings aim “to help families see how their full array of college options stack up,” said Kaitlin Pitsker, associate editor, Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine. “We start with a universe of nearly 1,200 schools, then trim the list based on measures of academic quality, cost and financial aid data. This year’s list features recurring winners, as well as rising stars and new additions, all of which are worth a look.”
