SHU Partners with WWAX, New Local TV Station
SHU’s athletic games will be rebroadcast on WFSB’s sister station
Connecticut’s newest television station, WWAX, is excited to announce an exclusive media partnership with Sacred Heart University. WWAX is Channel 3 WFSB’s sister station. From baseball to hockey, and soccer to volleyball, WWAX will rebroadcast select games from nearly every sport SHU athletics has to offer.
“We are excited to have a new broadcast partner to showcase our passionate and hard- working student-athletes and coaches in their quest for championships,” said Judy Ann Riccio, SHU’s director of athletics. “Re-airing games on WWAX around the state is another great way for all of Connecticut to engage with the Pioneers, a way for alumni to stay connected and a way to introduce ourselves to audiences that might not be that familiar with Sacred Heart. It is an invitation for all to be Pioneers.”
“WWAX is very proud to be partnering with Sacred Heart University,” said WFSB-TV, WWAX Regional Vice President/General Manager Dana Neves. “We are building a television station to highlight Connecticut’s universities, athletes and students. SHU athletics and academics is an integral part of that plan and our programming.”
