SHU in Dingle Building Goes Green
Solar system on portion of school will produce energy
The Christian Brotherhood School building that Sacred Heart University purchased for its Dingle, Ireland, campus recently underwent extensive renovations including a new addition. On the addition, a solar system that includes solar panels and other key components to allow solar energy to function properly, were installed on the roof to help produce energy for the building. The solar system will generate enough energy to provide hot water, some lighting as well as air conditioning in the atrium portion of the historic 1890s school during the summer months.
Solar systems harness energy from the sun reducing greenhouse emissions gas and lowering air and water pollution. This is sustainable technology that will allow the building to operate while combating climate change, protecting the environment and exemplifying SHU’s dedication to Laudato Si’.
