SHU Changes College of Education’s Name to Reflect Growth
New name reflects expansion of research, programs and community outreach
Sacred Heart University has changed the name of one of its colleges from the Isabelle Farrington College of Education to the Isabelle Farrington College of Education & Human Development (FCEHD) to reflect program expansion and development.
“Expanding the name of our college to the Isabelle Farrington College of Education & Human Development more accurately captures the recent growth of the college’s programs, community engagement and research productivity,” said Michael Alfano, dean of FCEHD.
The college’s evolution includes its first group of doctoral students, who are set to graduate in May. Additionally, there are graduate students studying clinical mental health counseling who are entering their final internships and new graduate degree tracks launching soon in school counseling and higher education administration & student affairs.
“We believe the new name will lead to increased regional and national exposure for SHU and for the work of the college’s faculty and students,” said Robin Cautin, Sacred Heart’s provost. “We believe the name change will provide opportunities for increasing undergraduate and graduate enrollment, as well as expanding strategic partnerships with community-based organizations.”
