Two-day celebration of cultural diversity and inclusion

Sacred Heart University, in partnership with Todo Wafi, a digital media and news company, is proud to announce the Revolución 2024: Unity in Diversity Conference, a two-day event celebrating the power of diversity, inclusion and community.

On October 18 and 19, this event will bring together artists, entrepreneurs and thought leaders for an enriching experience focused on breaking barriers, fostering dialogue and creating lasting impact. The event on Saturday, October 19, is free and open to the public. Registration is encouraged but not required.

The Revolución 2024 event is designed to be much more than a celebration. It is a platform where diverse voices come together to engage in meaningful conversations about the challenges and opportunities of representation and inclusivity in modern society. Through panels, interactive booths, live performances and community events, attendees will leave inspired to contribute to positive change in their own communities.

Event Highlights

October 18: Revolución Salsa & Comedy Night

Get ready for a night of rhythm and unstoppable laughter at the SHU Community Theatre. Join the community for a unique evening blending the infectious energy of live salsa music with the comedic genius of Mark Viera. This event promises nonstop fun and entertainment for all ages, making it the perfect night to bring friends and family together for joy, laughter and great music. Admission: Open to the public with tickets available at the SHU Community Theatre website.

October 19: Full Day of Unity in Diversity Conference

A full day of enlightening discussions and networking opportunities focused on inclusivity, representation and entrepreneurship. All panel discussions will take place at the Edgerton Center for the Performing Arts.

Time Schedule
10:30 a.m. Colorism vs. Racism panel: Confronting Colorism and Racism in our Communities
Panelists will share their personal experiences with colorism and racism, highlighting how these issues impact professional opportunities, relationships and media representation. They will discuss how to dismantle them and to build a more inclusive society.
1:30 p.m. Culture and Media: Changing the Narrative on Culture and Representation in Media
A panel of media professionals and influencers will discuss the evolving role of media in breaking stereotypes, reclaiming cultural narratives and pushing for authentic representation in film, television and digital platforms.
3 p.m. Industry Changers: The Impact of Entrepreneurship
Join seasoned entrepreneurs as they share their journeys, from overcoming obstacles to achieving success in their respective fields. Learn practical insights on how to thrive as a minority entrepreneur in today’s competitive marketplace.
4:30 p.m. Unity in Diversity: Fostering Inclusion in Our Communities
This panel will focus on how communities can break stigmas, embrace diversity and foster a culture of inclusion, acceptance and unity.

Free Multicultural Community Village in Edgerton Center for the Performing Arts Atrium

On Saturday, October 19, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., attendees will see a wide range of interactive and family friendly activities.

  • Interactive booths showcasing local businesses and cultural organizations
  • Family fun activities including free face painting and a family photo area
  • Exhibitor village featuring local businesses and community organizations
  • Giveaways and fun prizes

This is an opportunity for attendees to experience the richness of diversity in the local community, connect with exhibitors and participate in cultural activities in a fun, engaging atmosphere.
