Sacred Heart Earns Recognition as a College of Distinction
For the fourth consecutive year, Colleges of Distinction has reaffirmed that Sacred Heart University is doing all the right things.
The higher-education organization once again recognized Sacred Heart for its academic excellence. With more program offerings, an expanding campus, faculty and staff dedicated to the needs and demands of the growing student population and students dedicating nearly 100,000 of community service, the designation is hard-earned.
“We are grateful to be recognized by Colleges of Distinction and for their faith that Sacred Heart is a place that meets its four distinctions: engaged students, great teaching, vibrant community and successful outcomes,” said SHU President John J. Petillo. “Being acknowledged for those distinctions is an honor and, more importantly, it assures our students we are dedicated to them and their futures.”
Colleges of Distinction has recognized and honored schools throughout the U.S. for excellence in undergraduate education for more than 15 years. The organization states that today’s job market grows more complex every day, requiring the modern worker to be not only knowledgeable, but also adept at communication and resilient in the face of new challenges. “SHU’s exhaustive curriculum has worked to meet these needs, preparing its students to take on the post-graduate world through an education that reaches far beyond the basics,” it said.
“Sacred Heart University continues to impress with its exceptional commitment to student success,” said Tyson Schritter, chief operating officer for Colleges of Distinction. “Its extensive liberal arts curriculum informs and enriches everything students do both in and out of the classroom. And with such an involved engagement of experiential, high-impact practices, SHU continues to go the extra mile in professional education."
