Richard Falco will illuminate the importance of photojournalism

Images of the war in Ukraine will underscore the power of photography when Sacred Heart University professor Richard Falco hosts a photojournalism presentation on Oct. 27, at 7 p.m., at the Frank and Marisa Martire Center for the Liberal Arts.

Falco, the coordinator of multimedia journalism for the master of arts in journalism & media production program, assembled a selection of powerful images that document Russia’s war on Ukraine and its impact on the general population. The focus of the presentation is to show the importance of truthful information and support his assertion that photographs become “the evidence upon which truth rests.”

Falco hopes to give the audience, “a better understanding of what is happening in the Ukraine and the global implications it has for the rest of the world. The culmination of this conflict, whether Russia wins, or Ukraine, can change the course of outright oppression. It will impact how authoritarian leaders elsewhere determine what they can and cannot do.”

The presentation will take place in the Martire Theatre (E-145) at the Martire Center. It is free and open to the public.
